Reader: I just randomly thought of this. When Chopper’s small (meaning, when he’s his usual size), how does he carry things? Does he just pinch them up cleverly between his hooves? For some reason, this has really been bugging me.

Oda: Let me show you with a picture.

It’s like this! He grabbed it!! (Persuasion by force.)
Reader: Oda sensei, I’ve got a question. Midway through the Skypiea arc (chapter 244), Luffy starts wearing a wristband and bracelet. Why is that? Is it just to look cool? When they come down from the sky, he isn’t wearing them anymore.

Oda: You’re right. There’s no meaning behind them. They’re just there to look cool. Or rather, in that situation, Usopp and Sanji are there with him, remember? It seems as though when they changed into their adventure gear, Luffy spaced out while watching them and thought, “Hey! That looks adventure-ish, huh?” and borrowed a wristband from Usopp, and then Sanji said, “Okay, put this on too,” and put a bracelet on him. Fundamentally speaking, Luffy, Zoro and Chopper are all incapable of dressing snappily. The only times they manage it are when Nami, Usopp or Robin are around to help.
They can drown in just two inches of water.
Well, basically that’s what comes from only being able to breathe through your nose and mouth.
For that reason, I think we should all master another method of breathing.
Breathe with your butt.
All right then, Volume 37 is (farting) starting.

Reader: In chapter 297 of volume 32, how come Luffy could make that big snap-crackle thing (Kingdom Come) disappear? Also, what was the electric discharge that Nami was talking about? I looked into it, but I couldn’t figure it out! Please help me out, ‘kay?

Oda: Right. Um… How should I explain this? To begin with, the important thing really is that you felt the power of the scene; if you did, everything’s okay. So, first off, Kingdom Come is a cluster of thunderclouds. Think of thunderclouds as clumps of stress with lots of static electricity in them. The thundercloud thinks it wants to take that stress out on something. What comes down at that point is lightning. The kind people mean when they say, “Hey, a tree just got hit by lightning!” Or “Yamada got struck by lightning!”

(Yamada)
Oda: Lightning is an electrical discharge, but electrical discharges aren’t limited to occurring outside the cloud. Sometimes that snap-crackle stress is released inside the cloud itself, and then it’s called “sheet lightning.” Gold conducts electricity. So when Luffy plunged into Kingdom Come with the gold ball, the snap-crackle stress in Kingdom come discharged inside the cloud and vanished. But you know, it’s not like Luffy knew what he was doing either. It’s okay. Just be glad the weather cleared up. Skypiea is still peaceful to this day. Here ends the Question Corner!!
Oda: Fish Eggs from Wakayama Prefecture has sent us a maze!! There’s no answer! Have fun gettin’ lost!! Try to reach the end! You can travel through any blank space. How many heads does Usopp have in total?!
Reader: Hello, question for ya. In One Piece, what do you base bounties on? Are they based on strength? If that’s the case, then isn’t about 80 million berries too low for Crocodile? Or does it get higher the more evil you’ve done? Or was that a mistake on your part? Because of this matter, a forehead-flicking-free-for-all is playing itself out all over school. Please help me!!

Oda: If you think hard about this, it’s actually a difficult problem. The Seven Warlords of the Sea are allied with the government, and when a pirate joined up, his bounty was cancelled. For this reason, the pirates of the Seven Warlords of the Sea have former bounties of ___ berries recorded, but Baroque Works was secretly formed after Crocodile became one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, so the added the level of danger isn’t included into the calculation of the bounty. If we factored all of that in for Crocodile, his bounty would probably jump at least twice its current 81 million berries.

Reader: Hello, Oda sensei. Gosh, Nami is just too cute! That beauty, that figure! I’m just crazy about her. By the way, hasn’t Nami gotten curvier compared to the way she was in Volume 1.

Oda: Yeah. I get that question a lot. But Nami’s 18; if you think about it, she’s still growing. She’s not done yet! I’ll try my best!! (<- ?) Robin’s still only 28, too! I’ll try my best!! (<- ?)
Reader: Does Eneru like apples?

Oda: Yes. He does. I like ‘em too. Oh, you didn’t ask about me? I like pears too! Oh, you didn’t ask about me?
Reader: What percentage of a deer, a racoon, a reindeer and a human would you have to combine to get Chopper?
Oda: 10 percent deer, 70 percent racoon, 10 percent reindeer and 10 percent human, if you please.

Reader: In chapter 322 (“Puffing Tom”) Zoro called Sanji “Dart Boy”. Why “Dart Boy”?

Oda: That was a bit hard to get, wasn’t it? I got several questions about that. I think he meant the dartboard, instead of darts, seeing as it’s like a spiral. Seriously, why does he say weird things like that?! That Zoro!
